Pesta Sukan 2006

Sup all. Congratulations to all for a good job done, whether you won or not. Remember this competition is just for the experience; any medals are just a sweet, sweet bonus :).

The fencing aside, what really cheered me was the fighting spirit I saw so many of you demonstrate. Though I was denied the pleasure of watching most of your bouts, the stories of your numerous exploits reach me again and again. Even faced with lopsided scorelines all of you still fenced on. Technique can be taught, moves can be learnt but spirit you are born with.

Thanks to Serene, Liesl and Tooong for fencing; and thanks to all of you for doing your best. One for all and all for one. Try to get some training in, if not keep in shape. See ya'll soon.

Photos and other random stuff (On the Piste)

Yo people! Just want to say a BIG thank you to all those who came down and supported and helped out in one way or another:). Doesn't it make you feel so warm and sweet inside =P? Before you all start ogling at the photos, anyone up for fencing dinner on Friday? The one we had today was more like a sabre one with the exception of Terence, who owes me ALCOHOL! =P And lastly, to all those who fenced for Pesta, great job fencing and keep working at it! We're gonna pwn at Novices bigtime! I'll split the photos into 2 sections, on the piste and cam-whoring aka random stuff.

One thing about takin' photos of people fencing is that you can't tell who they are. Doesn't matter. Trust me when I say they're all from RJ. Well, most. :)

PS. I apologise for the inane captions (hard to niao people when you can barely tell who they are =P) and bad layout (blogspot, not my fault)

woooots!

congrats to all who did well! x) i'm so proud of all of you! well done RJ fencers!! wheeee~

anyway i wanted to go down to support you all today but some how i injured my foot last night at eme's house (eme better not have seen this. >.<) and my parents didnt want to fetch me down nor allow me to go there on my own so i didnt go in the end. hope the women's epee team did well!

oh ya anyway if you all are in need of a layout, i can volunteer to do it. but my designs are kinda simple. and you've gotta wait for me to have inspiration and time. which probably wouldnt be anytime soon. alternatively, you all can send me any picture you want to add on the layout or something and i can try to see how i can match it in the layout nicely. yup. but dont expect anything anytime soon as i am kinda busy trying to bury my head into my books. (teehee!)

so.. yup! hope everyone had a fruitful weekend!

much love,
cherie!

p.s. that was a nice layout provided by zhangfan! if you all decide to use it then i guess i wont need to come up with a design for a layout already right? =p

pesta sukan: the second day

WE GOT BRONZE!

--

Okay, so I don't know how to keep people in suspense. That was for women's sabre, by the way.

Didn't stay for dinner because my mother wanted me to go back and *study*. I'm sure I did just that. When I left, Jingxun, Choon Wing, Sunlu and Zhidong were still fighting for their medal. I would probably know their results by now, except dear Florence forgot to message their results immediately and I don't think she actually checks her handphone, despite carrying it around everywhere with her. ^-^

We beat RGS. :O Uber cool. But we lost to the other one whose name I can't spell. I think it was people from some poly?

Thanks are owed, obviously. :P To my teammates, Liesl (who helped us catch up all the time), Florence (supposedly aggressive but actually very worried) and Yuhua (our favourite cheerleader). I was quite surprised that Joanna bothered to come down, because she isn't competing. But it turns out she just wanted to show off her new handphone. . .

Also to people like Terence, who helps with the dratted wire and shouts advice, and Jingxun, for (afterward) talking about our great potential in a bid to inspire us to train more. >_< Yay for all the random cheerleaders too, like the other sabreurs (saberers? Sabrerers? This problem suddenly starts to bother me).

It really helps when you know people want to see you win. :)

pesta women's foil (:

heyhey update u all on women's foil!

first round we met nus, and after a close tight fight we won them 45-41, hoho (: thank god we've got serene.

after that we met prc, and i guess due to complacency+tiredness we didnt perform our best, even serene underperformed, so we lost badly 27-45 ):

BUT we didn't get eliminated cos there were only 8 teams so since we got into top 4 we had to fight for 3rd position. me and sichen didn't know about this and happily (not so) undressed, and after we found out we still had another round we kanchiong-ly dressed up again, heh so embarrassing ><

last round we met pjc, when the 2nd bout ended we were still leading, but after that me and sichen really pulled the team down badly and serene didnt manage to pull it back much until the last bout. at a score of 40-17 she earned the team 16 points and so we lost 45-33. if we won this round we would have come home with a bronze medal, sad ):

but still this is my best fencing competition ever (ya ya i know i only had 2 so far lol) cos i guess serene really taught me alot. it takes much more than just outstanding skills to qualify for a national, it's her attitude that made her even more respectable. me and sichen fenced like s*** but she never showed any sign of frustration or whatever, she only made sure she did her best to make up for our lousiness. when she didn't do that well for the second round, there was no making of noise or throwing of tantrum, she only lay on the floor quietly reflecting (at least that's what i thought she was doing haha). and i can tell she really put in her best into the very last bout. she might already know it's impossible to gain 28 points within 3 minutes before the opponent gains 5 points, but she still tried very very hard, just to make our score not so ugly. she took it as a challenge rather than a simple bout. and after that she thanked us and gave us hugs, smiling all over.

like oh my god la, have you ever met a fencer as nice and humble and zai as her? i've not. serene rocks (:

yup yup that's all, please update on all the other events! and did you all have pasta? i think i deserve to be treated to pasta cos i tried my best for pesta, teehee (:

oh the darkness.

haha, yeah we should really do something about the layout! it's too... black!! not that i'm racist or anything... ahahaha, randomness. just came back from dinner!! and darren is -still- online despite claiming to follow uncle xun's advice and sleep at 10. well it's 11.30 now!! ahahaha, okay i should be sleeping soon too!! i digress.

yeah, all you geeks with no life pro html designers come volunteer your services! actually i wouldn't mind trying to think up a design but well, hate translating it to html. especially from scratch. i suggest taking a layout and editing it!! yupp, YOU! yes YOU!! GO DO IT!! (not that i have any power to abuse. darn.)

ahahaha, anyway, congrats to the women's foil team! (now i phrase it right =.=") on getting 4th! woohoo! gogo men's sabre team! must.. get.. gold. rawr. beat david!! lol. okay, on second thoughts if we're inviting the coaches to join the blog i'd better delete that before he reads it =X

well, all the best for tomorrow anyway people! it doesn't matter if we win or lose, or thrash your fellow rjc team, in the end we're all winners!! (yeah, right. sorry the cynic in me couldn't resist. lol.) and remember we are all one big happy fencing family. awwwwwwwww.

ahahahaha, cheerios,
matthew reuben uh, darren. (just in case.)

I've got places to go...

Sup all. This is the first weapon captain post. I think. Don't tell me if i'm wrong.

Anyway there are several nice places to eat around the sports hall. I've never been to a competition there without eating out afterwards so... yeah. Besides eating is good for you. Theres a KFC, Macs and Pizza Hut, as well as 3-4 hawker centers around. Never really bothered to count. Also my personal favourite: Momoya (I think) a Jap restaurant with decent food at cheap, cheap prices. 5 big slices of salmon sashimi at 6 bucks. Only place cheaper is at a sashimi buffet. Yeah.

I think it'll be good if we eat out together after the 2 days of tournament, and more importantly if we go down to support our teammates even if we're not fencing on that day. Trust me support from the sidelines can really make a difference.

Good luck everyone. Grab a few friends and get some sparring in on friday if you can.

IT IS BORN!

Heyhey people! Our wonderful captain has conceived the fencing blog at long, long last! The design looks kinda standard, so those IT-savvy folks out there, if you think you have a cooler layout for this blog, go ahead and change it =)! Feel free to blog about anything, fencing related or otherwise. Please do not, unless you are socially challenged (or Jing Xun =P ), insult others, spam people, blah and blah (other little misdemeanours). Have fun blogging and let the entries start rolling! :)

PS. Best of luck for Pesta people! Strive for every single point and who knows, we might just bag a medal =)
